Opportunities From: Gorilla Action at Pittsburg State University

Help Sacred Heart Food Pantry serve local families by assisting with food distribution. Volunteers will help carry food and supplies from the pantry to clients' vehicles during monthly distribution events. 

Volunteer Duties:

Carry food boxes/bags to vehiclesAssist pantry staff with distribution activitiesProvide friendly and respectful customer service

Requirements:

Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.Comfortable working outdoors for short periodsClosed-toe shoes recommended

Sacred Heart Food Pantry provides food assistance to individuals and families throughout Crawford County. More then 40% of pantry clients are age 65 or older. Volunteers help ensure food and donated items reach the community members who need them most. 

Note: This opportunity is coordinated by Service & Civic Engagement in partnership with Sacred Heart Food Pantry in Frontenac. Volunteers will serve directly with Sacred Heart Food Pantry Staff.

Help reduce food waste and support local families by assisting with monthly food pickups from Aldi in Pittsburg. Volunteers will gather donated bread, milk, cheese, eggs, and other items, transport them to the pantry, and help unload donations.

Volunteers will meet with pantry staff at the church before going to Aldi to pick up donations. 

Volunteer Duties:

Assist with loading donated food items at AldiTransport donations to Sacred Heart Food PantryHelp unload and organize food at the pantry

Requirements:

Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.Wear closed-toe shoesReliable transportation
